Our Mission

. . .

To heal, help and inspire hope

Shodair Children’s Hospital is creating a healthy and hopeful Montana through specialized psychiatric care for children and adolescents along with a nationally recognized genetics program providing care for all ages. 99% of our patients come from right here in Montana. And, because no family should have to worry about the cost to help their loved one. We don’t turn anyone away. Help us create a healthy and hopeful Montana.

Suicide in Children: A Guide for Parents

Let us be the first to say, you’re not alone. Those concerns you’re having – Why is my child so sad? Did I do something wrong? Should I be worried? How do I get him out of his room? Where do I go for help? – they’re normal, and it’s okay to have those questions. It’s also extremely normal for your child or teen to go through seasons of fluctuating emotions, even those that are deeply sad or possibly suicidal. So, take a deep breath – you’re still a good parent and you can get through this. Let’s talk about where to go from here.

MSU Montanathon: Dancing for Children’s Mental Health

Each year, MSU Dance Marathon, a local student-led organization at Montana State University, rallies together to educate, inspire, and raise funds for Shodair Children’s Hospital – the only CMN Hospital in the treasure state. And while the organization’s efforts culminate in the long-anticipated MSU Dance Marathon (better known as “Montanathon”), this passionate group of students work year-round to support the important efforts at Shodair through fundraising events like dodgeball tournaments, tie-die nights, ice skating gatherings, and even smaller dance parties.

Creating Safe Environments in an Open Space

The reality of mental health is this – it’s complex. It’s emotional, spiritual, psychological, and often physical. And yet while our treatment plans are ever-evolving, ever-changing based on a patient’s needs, there is one element that will always be fundamental to the success of both our patients and our team. And that’s a safe and nurturing environment.
