Lego and Eggos
Anita Wotkyns, Ravalli County
Along with the Bitterroot Discovery Children’s Museum and the Hamilton Masonic Lodge, we helped put on a community event we called, “LEGO and Eggo.” We got sponsored food from Costco to have a waffle bar, and the children’s museum put together 8 different STEM activities, all centered around LEGO. I was able to create materials that encouraged parents and caregivers to lead the communication and learning, as well as provide resources from parentingmontana.org. We also had LEGO and Eggo trivia and information on each table, with the backside containing info that talked about the important role parents and caregivers play in the lives of their children and reminding them that by staying connected, they are playing a vital part in positive prevention!
We had 128 guests and 10 volunteers, and it was such a hit, we have plans for a sequel LEGO event in 3 weeks.
