Summer is here! Phillips County Prevention supported this year’s young anglers of Camp Walleye at Nelson Reservoir by providing Beginner Tackle Kits to all 14 youth participants.
The 2nd Annual Father/Daughter Dance was held the Friday prior to Father’s Day at the Malta Event Center, with 29 young ladies and 22 dad’s attending! Those helping to make this event possible were: City of Malta, Malta Girl Scout Troop 3995 Leaders, Alison’s Pantry, Malta Kiwanis and KMMR 100.1 FM Radio. The 1st Annual Poncho’s BBQ Cook-Off, a memorial event for Jory Schipman, took place the fourth Saturday of June. Prevention Specialist Gina Lamb is one member of Poncho’s Posse, who organized this event; along with manning a booth during the day, prior to the public feed. Information on suicide prevention from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Montana DPHHS, 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and ParentingMontana.org. The booth was also adorned with paper cranes – symbolizing peace, love, hope, healing and recovery; “Kindness Rocks”, painted by Malta Kids Club members; and a Memorial Luminaries activity – for us who are left behind, to write/draw messages to our loved ones on white paper bags which were placed along the sidewalk later that evening with tealights inside. “It was wonderful to visit and connect with Survivors of Suicide Loss throughout the day! And to see so many people in our community come out to support this meaningful event in honor of Jory!” stated Gina Lamb. |
