2. Best gift ever received: I can’t think of any one thing, but a lot of little things…Here’s a few: the poem my daughter’s kindergarten teacher gave me on the first day of school; an agate from the Oregon coast that my cousin found and knew I’d love; a necklace from my grandpa I got when I was little; a Basset Hound puppy named Rufus on my 14th birthday; a tiny bonsai tree my sister gave me for my first Mother’s Day (14 years later it’s 4 feet tall); a painting my Grandma did in an old frying pan when she was younger that she gave me as a housewarming gift when we bought our house.
3. Your motto: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” -Maya Angelou

If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be: My inner hippie thought is that the general pursuit of life wouldn’t be focused on greed, wealth, and power, but on generosity, compassion, education, being present, and simplicity. I think if that were the case, most of the other worldly problems would pretty well disappear.
24. What are you learning right now? So much! Prevention is new to me (I started in January) and I can’t believe all I’ve learned in the past 4 months. Specifically, grant writing is something I knew nothing about before January. I’ve worked on a few since I started and I love that it’s something I’m learning to do.
